Remove sweet-page.com

About sweet-page.com
sweet-page.com is a browser hijacker website, developed by Wify Technology Limited. Browser hijackers are pretty minor infections that change browser’s settings without permission and try to redirect users to sponsored websites. The changes they perform to browsers include setting a new homepage, new tabs and changing the default search engine. These modifications make hijackers very obvious infections. However, despite noticing them, a lot of users do not get rid of hijackers. Not deleting one would be a mistake because hijackers can actually lead to dangerous sites, where users could encounter malware or scams. So the sooner you uninstall sweet-page.com, the better.
Browser hijackers usually install without permission. They are added to free software as extra offers and need to be deselected. If they go unnoticed, they can install alongside the freeware without trouble. Continue reading to find out how you can prevent these unwanted installations.
How do browser hijackers install?
Browser hijackers are often added to free software as extra offers. Most of the popular free programs will come with these offers, which include adware, browser hijackers and potentially unwanted programs. The offers are permitted to install alongside, unless they are manually deselected by users. However, most users do not do that simply because they are not aware of the offers being there in the first place. They will only be visible if users opt for Advanced (Custom) settings when installing freeware. Unlike Default, Advanced settings will show everything that has been added. Users will also be able to deselect the offers.
It is recommended to deselect all of the offers, no matter what software you are installing, as they’re likely to be more trouble than they’re worth. It’s much easier and less time consuming to deselect a few boxes than to have to uninstall programs.
What does a hijacker do?
The browser hijacker will immediately change your browser’s settings. Your browser, whether you’re using Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, will have sweet-page.com set as the homepage. These changes are performed without permission and cannot be reversed while the hijacker is still installed. So until you uninstall sweet-page.com, the site will greet you every time you open your browser.
The site promotes a questionable search engine, which would redirect you to sponsored websites. If you were to use the search engine, you’d see loads of results that have little to do with your search queries. If you click on them, you’d be taken to websites that want to generate traffic to make revenue. It should be mentioned that some of those sites could also be malicious or promoting scams. It would be best if you avoided using the search engine in general.
Hijackers also track users and collect information about them. They record IP addresses, search queries, websites visited, etc.
