Remove Groovorio.com

What is groovorio.com
groovorio.com or Groovorio search is a browser hijacker, a minor infection that will make changes to your browser without your permission. While a relatively harmless infection, it’s quite annoying. It will change your browser’s settings so that you have a new homepage, and try to redirect you to sponsored content. Hijackers exist for that reason. They help sites generate revenue by redirecting traffic to them. Usually, hijackers redirects users via questionable search engines, which in this case is groovorio.com. It will insert sponsored content into results so that it could redirect you.
Those redirects are usually a problem. They are not only annoying, they can also lead to dangerous sites, which could be hosting malware or promoting scams. While some users choose to ignore hijackers and allow them to remain, those redirects are why you should remove groovorio.com.
Hijackers usually install via freeware bundles, as this way they can avoid being noticed by users. Carry on reading to find out how you can avoid installing hijackers in the future.
How did the browser hijacker install?
Browser hijackers, as well as adware, are often added to free programs as extra offers. The offers are hidden and are preselected by default, which means they install alongside the freeware, unless you manually prevent them from doing so. To make them visible, you need to opt for Advanced (Custom) settings. Those settings will not only show you what has been added, but also allow you to deselect everything.
If you see something added to the program, all you need to do is uncheck the offers. After you have done that, you can continue installing the program.
What does it do?
As soon as the hijacker installs, it will change your browser’s settings. Every time you open your Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers, you will be redirected to groovorio.com as it has been set as your homepage. Your search engine will also be changed. These changes may not be reversible while the hijacker is still present on the computer, so you may need to first delete groovorio.com from your computer.
The groovorio.com website tries to resemble Google or some other legitimate search engine. It has a search bar, which will be used to redirect you to certain sites. The results shown to you by this search engine may be manipulated and lead to sites that have little to do with what you were searching for. The sites you could end up on may be hosting malware or promoting scams.
Furthermore, the hijacker may collect information about you and your browsing habits. It will track you as you browse, log what sites you visit, what you search for, your IP address, etc. That information could later be shared with unfamiliar third-parties.
