What is PoshCoder?
PoshCoder is classified as a ransomware program that restricts access to your PC once it enters the system. It is very similar to other programs of this type like FBI Virus, European Law Enforcement Agency virus, Homeland Security virus and many more. The program encrypts your files and makes it impossible to open them. The reason this is done is to get the computer user to pay the cyber criminals for unlocking the files. And this is exactly what you should not do. Paying the so-called ransom will not do you any good. If you got infected by this malicious program you should remove PoshCoder from your PC.
How does PoshCoder work?
The way PoshCoder works is by using scare tactics to trick people into transferring money to the cyber criminals. PoshCoder locks your PC and prompts you with a message that claims that you have broken copyright laws, i.e. downloaded or distributed illegal content, and therefore you must pay a fine. It also states that you if pay the fine all charges against you will be dropped, if not, however, you will face legal consequences that will be much worse. None of this is true, of course. Do not trust any of the messages and do not waste your money as it will not help you unlock your PC. What you should do instead is delete PoshCoder from your system.
If you are wondering how you got infected by this malicious threat, there are quite a few possibilities. It could have been a spam e-mail with a corrupted link or an infected attachment. Another way to get infected is by downloading and installing software from unfamiliar webpages. Do not install software updates from unofficial websites as this is one of the most popular methods of malware distribution.
How to uninstall PoshCoder?
You can terminate PoshCoder from your PC if you download and install a malware removal tool, e.g. Spyhunter. The program will scan your system, detect all possible threats and remove them. Another advantage of having anti-malware is that you never get infected by similar malicious programs again as it will safeguard your PC. There are two ways you can implement a powerful malware removal tool onto your computer. The first one is to use a different PC and download the anti-malware program onto a USB device. Then restart your PC and choose the Safe Mode. All you need to do now is install the program and it will eliminate PoshCoder for you.
