What is Babal.net?

Babal.net is a browser hijacker that mostly attacks computers in Turkey, Egypt and the Middle East. It is usually distributed via Amonetize bundles and comes as a part of the YouShaHD Player installer. The hijacker gets installed silently.

It modifies your browser settings without your permission. It also adds a shortcut on your desktop to babal.net. The application affects all popular browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. There is nothing useful about it. You should not hesitate to remove Babal.net from your computer.

How does Babal.net work?

Once the hijacker enters your system, it changes your home page to babal.net. It does not affect your default search engine. If you try using the search engine that is presented on the webpage, you will simply be redirected to Google. Aside from the search box you will find lots of advertisements, links and quick access buttons on the main page of the hijacker. There are links to popular sites like Facebook, Twitter and so on. However, you will also notice links to plenty of unfamiliar pages. Some of the links are categorized into News, Images and Games groups. Even if you do know what page is advertised, we would not recommend clicking on these ads.

It is clear that the main purpose of hijacker is to promote its associated sites. There is no real value that the application brings to the table and hence there is no reason why you should not terminate Babal.net. The presented advertisements can not all be trusted and if you click on a fake ad you may be redirected to a malware harboring website where you could infect your computer. You should also be careful with various lotteries and surveys designed to acquire your personal information. Do not share your private data on unreliable webpages if you do not wish to become a victim of identity theft.
