What is Astromenda Search?
Astromenda Search, also known as istart.Astromenda Search, is a browser hijacker that was created by EMG Technology Limited. It belongs to Qvo6 family of browser hijackers and is in particularly linked to another program of this type called key-find.com. Astromenda Search is not a malicious application itself, however, it is not 100% safe either. The program is compatible with all popular browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and IE. It comes bundled with free software which is why most of the time computer users do not even notice how it got installed. Whether or not it was your intention to acquire the application, we recommend you delete Astromenda Search from your PC.
How does Astromenda Search work?
As soon as Astromenda Search enters your computer system, it modifies your home page, new tab page and default search engine. Instead of your regular search provider you are stuck with search.Astromenda Search or istart.Astromenda.com. The results that the hijacker presents you with are not to be trusted as they are altered to include sponsored links that usually appear on top of the page. Aside from the sponsored links you will also see ads, pop-ups and banners all over the Internet. These ads belong to third parties and are not endorsed by the application. Needless to say, you should avoid them at all costs unless you want to infect your PC with malware.
Although Astromenda Search provides you with quick access buttons that could be useful, you should keep in mind that the main page also contains suspicious links and adverts that should be avoided. The ad that appears right below the quick access links is obviously fake. There are also a few more adverts at the corners of the webpage. This is a clear sign that the main purpose of the program is to promote various webpages. It has nothing to do with making your browsing experience any better. That is why you should terminate Astromenda Search as soon as you can.
