What is Anonymous virus?
Anonymous virus is a ransomware program that belongs to the family of Ukash viruses. Unlike other viruses from the Ukash family such as FBI virus, Homeland Security virus, European Law Enforcement Agency virus and others, Anonymous virus does not pretend to be a government facility. The displayed message comes from a hacktivist group called Anonymous and states that your computer has been blocked and you will have to pay a fine to restore the access to it.
Like with any other ransomware, paying the cyber criminals will not be helpful in any way and all you will do is waste your money. Ignore the instructions provided by the hackers and delete Anonymous virus from your PC as soon as you can.
How does Anonymous virus work?
Once your computer gets infected by Anonymous virus you will see a message that will state that your computer has been hacked and you need to pay 100 dollars in order to restore the access to it. The message goes on to state that if you do not pay the said sum your files will be deleted. It also threatens you by claiming that if you try to terminate Anonymous virus yourself you will also lose all of your files. Clearly, this whole message is just a part of a scam and you should not take any of it seriously. Paying the so-called ransom will not restore the access to your system. What you should do is exactly what the message advises against: remove Anonymous virus.
How did I get infected by Anonymous virus?
There are various ways to get infected especially if you do not have a malware prevention tool on your PC. Ransomware can spread through spam e-mail attachments, corrupted websites or fake software.
